CRS74XF / Tournament Crankbait Rod
FLW Western Series angler, Joe Uribe Jr., helped design the flagship of our Tournament Series Crankbait Rods and the CRS74XF was the result. This rod is designed to throw small to mid-sized cranks, weighing 3/8- to 3/4-ounce, yet have the power to maintain control over the fish. At 7-feet 4-inches in length, the extra-fast action and soft tip allows smaller baits to be cast accurately yet the power from the mid-section of the blank to the butt allows the angler total control over the largest of fish. Because the rod is made with only the highest quality components, it is lighter which decreases fatigue even over multiple days of hard fishing. But the CRS74XF isn’t just a crank rod – it’s one of the most versatile rods in our line-up. Our pro-staffers have used it for jerkbaits, topwater and even as a heavier drop-shot rod with great success. In other words, if you are looking for an all-around rod to cover multiple techniques, this is the rod for you.

CRSX80XF / Tournament Crankbait Rod
The 8-foot CRSX80XF has all the same characteristics as the shorter CRS74XF but was developed for the toughest clear water lakes of the west like Lake Havasu and Lake Mead where longer casts are necessary in order not to spook wary fish. But, it is also perfect for the kneeling-and-reeling technique allowing the angler to get their bait down that extra foot or so. Because of its length and stouter butt section, crankbaits up to 1-ounce are easily handled by this rod as well as larger topwater, like the Sammy 128, Heddon Super Spook or the Jackall Bowstick 128. The telescopic design of the CRSX80XF decreases the total length to 6-feet 6-inches which can be stored in rod lockers that can’t accommodate a full 8-foot rod.

What is torsional twist and why is it important? - Torsional twist occurs on standard-wrapped (conventionally-wrapped) casting rods due to the line-load being on top of the rod. As a load is placed on the top of the rod, the guides want to rotate/twist under the blank which creates fatigue on an angler’s wrist and can also lead to rod failure.
