Lure Description
Lucky Craft pro, Gary Dobyns, has been fishing with a modified Staysee 90 for years, and now, after much research and development, Lucky Craft if introducing it to the fishing industry.
The older version, the Staysee 90 V2, runs between 6 and 8 ft deep, while the new Staysee V3 reaches depths between 10 and 12 ft. After re-weighting the Staysee for years with suspend dots on the bill, Dobyns is happy to see Lucky Craft modify the bait to create a different action
New weights are built into the bait itself and there is no visible difference. However, once in the water, the difference is evident and key to reach those deeper fish. The bait is also made to "nose down" in the water column and sink ever so slowly on the pause
Much different than other Lucky Craft jerkbaits, the Staysee 90 V3 does not suspend. The sinking action is almost invisible to the naked eye, but the fish can most definitely tell the difference.
The hooks on the Staysee 90 V3 have been changed, as well. The original Staysee comes standard with no. 5 hooks, but the new Staysee 90 V3 will have No. 4s.
According to Dobyns, the action of the Staysee 90 V3 is also much different than other jerkbaits. It is not an erratic action, but much more of a subtle, walking action as it moves through the water. It works best with soft "pops", and Dobyns likes to fish it best with varied rhythms. The number of "pops" will change depending on the activity of the fish.
One of the new colors released at ICAST 2008, Phantom Chartreuse Shad, was developed by Lucky Craft for this particular bait. Dobyns chose six colors as the initial colors available in the Staysee 90 V3, and he believes this new bait will be a best seller in the west.
